Objectives

The Côtes d'Armor Department leads a network of partners which meets twice a year. The following observation emerges: even if the desire to set up a European school exchange project is real, the "fear" is very present. For most organizations, the European project relies on one or two teachers from the school, and the writing and monitoring of this project is largely done on personal time. For other organizations, the desire is there, but taking the next step, without support, is inconceivable. In addition, the Departmental Assembly is convinced that the mobility of school education staff (director, manager, Inspector of National Education, teacher) will promote the development of projects of openness to Europe for the mobility of pupils and will allow greater team cohesion within the organizations in regard to the setting up and carrying out of these projects. This project will undoubtedly have an impact on teaching practices, will make it possible to draw inspiration from different models of education in Europe, but also a geographical opening up and it will respond to the challenge to be met: the arrival of foreign populations in the territory.

Background

The Departmental Assembly of Côtes d'Armor aims to make its territory dynamic and open to the world, for the benefit of all its inhabitants in their daily life. This desire is reflected in particular by supporting middle and primary schools in their approach to opening up to Europe. The Department has chosen to carrythe administrative and financial management of this project in order to support schools in this process. To do this, the Department wished to surround itself with National Education experts, in particular the Academic Department of National Education Services and the Regional Academic Delegate for European Relations and Cooperation (Drareic).
