Objectives

Our students, even if they were able to do their work placement in a structure where the French language could be used with certain interlocutors, and even if the pedagogical project carried out with their peers was in French (partner teacher coordinating French teacher), they were led to practice the English language. The choice of this first partnership thus enabled our school to enter into the process of professional mobility. Our students were able to apply their language skills in their contacts with their peers and companies. Internships in companies abroad also demonstrate to our students the need to learn during informal moments. We also wanted them to acquire innovative knowledge as part of their specific training. Finally, we wanted to get our pupils to work in teams together and with their Belgian peers. We wanted the students to consider their own mobility in their professional life. Finally, we wanted to help them not only to understand and respect cultural differences, but also to discover the added value of diversity.

Background

The candidate teacher, Mrs Anne Campilla, is the Erasmus coordinator of the school. We considered a partnership with a Belgian technical high school with whom collaboration started on the Etwinning live platform. This constructive collaboration led us to apply for a two-year project to send pupils to Belgium for a work placement, to share a pedagogical project with our partner school Don Bosco, to consolidate our desire for internationalisation and to open our pupils to Europe. The persons responsible for the implementation of the project were Mrs Campilla, from the beginning and the assistant of direction, Mrs Karine Allart, for the accompaniment to the assembly of the project and teacher in Management-Administration, a teacher in electronics, Mr Nicolau, teacher in the sections SN, digital systems which puts its competences at the service of the formation of the pupils, two teachers in construction, Mr Cazenave and Mr Bantoure, who put their skills more particularly at the service of the follow-up and supervision of the trainees both in France and in Belgium and who were responsible for the teaching project set up with the Belgian partners.
