Objectives

The expected impact on the participants is an increase in their daily autonomy, an awareness of the importance of speaking foreign languages, an increased motivation to successfully complete their vocational training as well as an increased openness at both intercultural and European level. The needs of the members of the consortium are: to develop mobility in the fields concerned in order to better qualify young people and their trainers, through intercultural openness, the improvement of language skills and the development of professional know-how and skills, which involves comparative approaches (in the positive sense of putting into perspective) with regard to methods, attitudes and practices; to improve employability and to support the lifelong learning process of all participants. In addition, there is the academic priority of strengthening interdisciplinary actions and project-based learning with the aim of teaching young people to mobilise the knowledge they have acquired and to transfer it to other contexts. The mobility experience supports and intends to enhance this capacity.

Background

In the context of globalisation, a stay abroad for young people in vocational training has become increasingly important and often makes the difference during recruitment. With this project, Culture et Liberté and the member schools of the consortium wanted to respond to this need and to integrate European mobility in a fluid and continuous way into the training programme in the field of electrical engineering. These types of vocational trainings are often confronted with the preconceived idea that it is useless to learn a foreign language and go abroad. With our project, we intend to prove the contrary and enable European mobility for young people who, due to their socio-cultural and professional background, are very far from such an experience. The project is a continuation of the cooperation between Culture et Liberté and the consortium members in the field of French-German exchanges and mobilities in the vocational training sector of the Erasmus+ program, which was first implemented in the period 2017-2019 and has been continued in the period 2019-2021 by a consortium, similarly composed and coordinated by Culture et Liberté.
