The project allows the discovery of a new culture and the consolidation of language skills. It gives the opportunity to see other professional expectations in a different legal framework from the point of view of the labor code. It also helps to promote school attendance and to fight against dropping out. In the same way, it favors success in the exams and creates a greater motivation to continue studying. Finally, this experience allows students to develop their autonomy and build their European identity.
The GASTON BARRE High school in Niort is a vocational high school specialized in bodywork, mechanics and logistics. This High school has the European Parliament Ambassador label since October 10, 2019. European and international opening is one of the strong points of our School project. The school joined the Erasmus program in 2012 with a partnership with the Helsinki City College Of technology - HelTech. Since then two other destinations have been added to our Erasmus project: Malta and Spain (Estepona). The logistics students are more interested in going to Spain because they learn Spanish as part of their training. The Bodywork and Mechanics students, who only have English in their curriculum, go to the other two destinations. We know the value of this experience and all the benefits that come with it for the students and we want to continue and enrich this experience. The partnerships we have established are a guarantee of the quality of the project and contribute to the linguistic, cultural and professional enrichment of the students. The steering committee now in charge of the project has a solid experience which allows the smooth running of the mobilities and an optimal exploitation of the benefits of the project.
