Objectives

The objectives were as follows: - To carry out learner mobility for learning purposes: to develop linguistic, citizenship and professional skills This includes the discovery of the local culture and the placement of learners in professional situations related to their school curriculum in an English-speaking country. - Mobilize accompanying staff to research hotel business locations and acquire a variety of skills This includes contact with local companies in the different hotel structures, visits and the establishment of partnerships.

Background

Within the framework of the school's policy and its desire to open up to the world, we applied for this project to offer our young students the opportunity to carry out their professional internship in a foreign country. Indeed, we wanted to offer this opportunity to the students of second year in technological baccalaureate in the hotel and catering industry (STHR) who have a 4-week internship in a company as part of their training. In this context, we wanted to send our young learners to Ireland in order to develop their language skills and the different cultures of an English-speaking European country, including its gastronomy and products. This project allowed them to acquire a better knowledge of the professional world while immersed in a foreign country. In order to push this immersion for the acquisition of language skills inherent to the training course, we made sure that our students were hosted by host families in small groups (2 to 3 students).
