Our project "Rompsay in Italy, Croatia, Slovenia and Estonia" from June 2020 to May 2022; its goal was to offer company internships to our learners in the 4 quoted-above countries, that we'd had contacts and agreements with for months. Unfortunately, due the COVID-19 pandemic, it was made impossible to collaborate. The schools of both Slovenia and Croatia wanted out of the project, and some internal affairs at the Estonian school had to put an end to our shared work. Our learners in the fields of industrial metalwork, informatic, nautic maintenance, electrotechnics and industrial maintenance were able to enjoy internships in Italy only. And it was a success, for both the teachers and the learners were able to improve their professional and linguistic skills, and to develop the aimed cross-disciplinary skills such as adaptability, flexibility and autonomy in a new environment.
Rompsay vocational school has had long-term partnerships with 3 German schools through professional internships organized every year as an exchange program: our learners leave for 3 weeks as interns in German companies and we welcome German learners for 3 weeks. An ERASMUS+ project with electronics companies in Dublin has been taking place for 8 years. A teacher, who participated in the school application, has experience in both LEONARDO and ERASMUS+ projects (2 LEONARDOS and 5 ERASMUS+). She's been assisted by a team of motivated teachers who already worked on international projects for our school, in Africa (Mali and Senegal) and in New Orleans, Louisiana. Openings to new destinations for company internships for learners from all fields available in our shcool was thus a logical continuity in our school dynamic of openess to the world.
