Objectives

Immersion in the country favors language learning by forcing students to communicate, express themselves, and make themselves understood. Depending on their training, they are immersed in companies in the tertiary sector in accordance with the reference system of the diploma they are preparing for (Business, Sales, and Management Administration). This three-week experience in a real-life situation allows them to put their fears about the difficulty of learning a language into perspective and encourages them to commit themselves fully. By participating in this concrete and relevant project, students develop "here and now" skills by remotivating themselves in the face of school learning (giving meaning and changing representations); they enrich their abilities, their knowledge, and their attitudes, for an "elsewhere, later". These cultural experiences have fostered future exchanges across borders, whether in a professional context (jobs, internships, training) or at the university level (Erasmus internship in higher education). The teachers under observation benefit directly from the pedagogical and didactic contributions of our European partners, but they also become the reporters within our school.

Background

Young people in vocational high schools are in the context of identity research influenced by new technologies, social networks, and their family and social environment. They often choose their training by default, sometimes after having experienced chaotic schooling. It’s public with fewer financial and cultural opportunities. Thus, the main objectives of the project are to offer them a rewarding experience, with a positive impact and a change of scenery, so that they can develop new skills (autonomy, language, cultural openness, sharing, living together, profession, etc.) and knowledge (habits and customs, art, monuments, company operations) that remain within the framework of their training while enriching it and enhancing the value of the vocational baccalaureate with an additional mention. Teachers and staff members have the opportunity to train throughout their careers through continuing education, but it remains very academic. What better way to take a step back from one's own practices than to go and confront them in the field with European partners, through observation or teaching phases?
