The consortium wished to give meaning to vocational education for a public marked by school failure, self-doubt, drop-out and social stigmatisation. Giving breadth and visibility to the vocational curriculum through its internationalisation has helped to improve the image of vocational education as perceived by both students and society. We designed the programme to contribute to the demystification of vocational education, which is too marked by an exclusion seal, while at the same time giving the beneficiaries an education and learning experience in line with the European construction. These objectives could not be achieved without the widest possible approval from the educational community, with an increasing involvement of workforce in the project.
We believe that social learning, citizenship education as well as professional learning are fundamental to contribute to the construction of a united and peaceful Europe. Social learning allows to learn new behaviors, to develop otherness, through the confrontation with other cultures. Citizenship education on a European scale accompanies the beneficiaries towards a feeling of European belonging. Professional learning in this context provokes a change of self-perception and contributes to give confidence to a public stigmatized by school failure, exclusion and inequity .
