Overall, this project should lead to an increase in the number of short term mobilities of learners and their mentors in various European countries. Moreover, it should improve the quality of teaching thanks to the training of two teachers in new digital tools, particularly digitalisation. On the professional level, we sought to strengthen the synergy between training and employment and to improve skills and qualities in line with the reference framework and assessments. To do this we have acquired new working methods in another language. Culturally, we wanted to create and boost various partnerships between our school and Irish and Belgian schools; this partnership also extended to companies. Thus, projects with European companies have been planned, such as the setting up of on-site activities to present and promote Reunionese products (setting up shop windows, tastings, etc.), On a personal level, this project allows the pupils to become aware of other cultures so that they can develop their sense of citizenship and belonging to Europe, team spirit, autonomy and self-confidence.
Located in Reunion Island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the François de Mahy high school, has 1261 students, 900 of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Geographically remote and faced with few employment issues, the school has been developing a policy of openness and European development for 15 years in order to increase the opportunities for learning mobility. Our young people need to train and acquire new skills through mobility on a professional, linguistic, cultural and personal level. This opening up to Europe allows us to strengthen the practice of foreign languages for our young people so that they can better succeed outside our borders. As for the teachers, this project aims to develop their linguistic skills but also to understand the world of education and that of companies by emphasising the evolution of new technologies. These new skills will enable teachers to create teaching materials adapted to dynamic and efficient teaching, to exchange their know-how and to adopt new working methods.
