Thanks to that project, we aimed at transmitting European community values to our students. Europe is indeed already deeply settled in our high school for a long while. Our goal was to perpetuate the European tradition to the next generations and bring an added value to our professional teachings. That helped us to motivate students and teachers. Various activities about Europe, and particularly about the countries in which we send our trainees, are organised. Of course, the other objective was to improve our students’ English. The mobility profits for our students are plentiful: - They come out of Paris suburbs for the very first time, - They live far away from their families for a while, thus becoming more autonomous and mature, - They develop their own identity, - They acquire new linguistic and professional skills. It should also be noted that those training periods in Europe help the students get better results at their final exams and facilitate their employability.
We applied for the Erasmus + programme in order to improve our students’ training periods Thanks to the European grants. Thus, we could send more students in the different foreign countries we mentioned, and that, in better conditions. As a reminder, our high school is a public school located in Essonne. It prepares students for diplomas in hospitality from NVQ to BTEC higher national diploma (the latter prepared in a work and study program). There are 520 students. Most of them came from medium and lower occupational categories and from different cultural backgrounds. We have been looking for more attractive means of teaching for ten years. The training periods in Europe helped us to motivate our students who got better results at the exams. To be close to European instructions according to vocational training, we wrote our applying file in order to promote our objectives and expected activities. We wished to gather our colleagues around these new topics that would allowed us to work and share our skills.
