INEO project (Professional inclusion for graduated from high school-leavers from Mayotte by European mobility ) of short term mobility (60 days) allowed young Mahorais people with fewer opportunities (inactive jobseekers) to live a unique professional experience abroad. The main objective of the project was to increase the employability of young jobseekers in Mayotte through an internship abroad as an advantage for social and professional integration. The specific objectives were : - to promote professional integration and the return to a training course - to promote the acquisition of a first professional experience and a base of psycho-social, intercultural and linguistic skills With the implementation of this project, we wanted to help the participants to confirm their first professional aspirations.
Mayotte is a territory characterized by its youth: 75% of the Mahorais population (Mayotte has over 256,500 inhabitants) is under 25 years old (source: latest INSEE census). It is also the French department with the highest unemployment rate (27% of the active population), which is also the highest rate in the European Union. 47% of the population between 18-25 years is unemployed. Each year, 4,000 students leave Mayotte to follow their studies in Reunion Island or in mainland France. For the last 20 years, 90 % of them failed during the first year. In addition, it’s very difficult for the majority of students (despite their baccalaureate diplomas or A-level) to get a contract of employment because many structures require professional experience. In response to this issue, Emanciper Mayotte provided a mobility project to empower the citizens of Mayotte in order to take their future in hand, to become autonomous and to participate in the sustainable development of Mayotte. The aim : to reintegrate these new graduates professionally and socially thanks to a unique experience abroad.
