Objectives

Its objective was to respond to the needs identified. First of all, it aimed to directly improve the linguistic skills (English as the international working language of European partnerships) of the European project manager, in order to: -improve current participation in multilateral partnerships for the exchange of practices -to develop future participation in this type of projects -to be able to propose the creation and to be coordinator of this type of projects -to expand and diversify the field of potential partners outside the comfortable circle of French-speaking countries. Furtherore, it aimed to discover innovations about good inclusion and self-determination for disabled people in Ireland.

Background

The association Les Genêts d'Or supports 1,800 people with disabilities in Finistère. It develops numerous European projects intended for professionals and accompanied persons and joins the European association ARFIE (Association for Research and Training on Integration in Europe). However, it is faced with a limit in terms of the number of foreign partners it can solicit, and of participation in multilateral projects whose working language is English, given the shortcomings in terms of mastery of this language by professionals, in particular the European project manager, the pivot of the development and implementation of these projects. Furthermore, the global context of the sector in which the association operates, promotes the inclusion and self-determination of people with disabilities, which implies a real paradigm shift for operators like Les Genêts d'Or.
