Objectives

Clear objectives were defined before the mobilities: - The development of professional days - The development of festival branches - Language skills - Integration of new members to the MFFN network - Linking our different events Due to a lack of skills in these different actions, we wanted to take the opportunity to go to two festivals that meet these criteria: the In-Edit festival in Barcelona and the Seeyousound festival in Turin. These two festivals have many facets from which we have much to learn, particularly in terms of creating festival branches and setting up a programme dedicated to music documentary professionals. In addition to the theoretical learning in the conduct of these objectives (development of professional days and the development of festival branches), the presence on the ground has allowed the improvement of language skills, has favoured the meeting with other or future members of the MFFN network and has allowed the reflection on our programming to link our events.

Background

Since 2015, the Bordeaux Rock association has been organising an international festival of music documentaries in the city of Bordeaux: Musical Écran. This festival offers its spectators a selection that is both broad and specialized. The idea of this festival is to highlight the diversity in music around the world. To this end, we participated in the creation of a network of European music documentary festivals in 2018: the Music Film Festival Network (MFFN). The aim of this project was to strengthen the exchanges between the countries of the different member festivals. These exchanges are characterised by the discovery of films, the discovery of cultures and by exchanges of professional experience. Several members of the Bordeaux Rock association were able to take part in a first Erasmus project between 2019 and 2020 and we wanted to repeat this experience by including new participants in order to allow the development of several actions. The last Erasmus project has allowed the association to grow for several years by increasing the number of actions towards young people and cooperation between different European festivals, it was essential for us to continue this dynamic.
