Objectives

Until now, mobility projects that included a work placement in a company abroad were mainly aimed at students in the hotel and business sections. With Mobimundus we wanted to extend these possibilities to all sections of our school, i.e. including fashion and hairdressing to the previously mentioned sectors. This implied a project within the project, namely the development and renewal of partnerships. We were looking in particular at other English-speaking countries, since the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union obliged us to do so, but also in French-speaking countries so that language would not be an obstacle to mobility. Indeed, some students do not take LV2 and therefore we did not want to penalise them. For the students in the fashion section, this opportunity would allow them to become familiar with other artistic influences and to get to know the different techniques used in the companies. On the other hand, the involvement of the hairdressing course in this project offers the pupils the possibility of broadening and deepening their knowledge and skills through contact with foreign cultures.

Background

Based on our past experience in organising Erasmus+ projects, the Lycée des Métiers Jules Le Cesne has developed partnerships for our various vocational training courses in the tertiary sector, fashion, hairdressing, services and the hotel industry. We wanted a new project called "MobiMundus" organised around training periods in companies, which are an integral part of the apprenticeship and access to the diploma of our students. This project is aimed at students who follow their training in our chartered and accredited establishment. It has a social dimension, as 70% of our students are considered socially disadvantaged and have neither the resources nor the opportunity to travel to one of the countries of the European Union for a work placement. The different economic sectors targeted, as mentioned above, converge towards the common objectives of openness and mobility.
