The project "Eco Citizenship " aims at encouraging pupils and teachers from various countries of Europe (France, Bulgaria, Poland, Spain, Greece, and Latvia) to collaborate and to make sensitive them on sustainable development and climatic changes. Our partnership bases on the variety of our establishments (urban or rural schools, big or small schools). This partnership has to allow us to involve all the pupils of the partner establishments, including the pupils with specific needs so that no child stays out. All the girls and the boys will find their place and will participate in the respect for each and in the objective of promotion of the intercultural education, the fight against racism and xenophobia. We want to educate pupils to be future citizens full of cultural and civil values. Work on this subject with such different schools seems to us a good way of transforming mentalities, opening on the future, adopting new attitudes for the environmental protection and so going towards an economy of sustainable development. We work on our school presentations, plant trees/aromatic herbs, sharing food, becoming more aware of resources, practicing conservation, conserving water, changing our ways to go to school. We finally work on 3R's (Reduce, Reuse and recycle). Common videos, project magasine, portfolios, blog are our expecting results.
The Eco-Citizenship project aims to encourage students and teachers from partner countries (France, Bulgaria, Poland, Spain, Greece and Latvia) to collaborate and develop an awareness of sustainable development and climate change and thus to acquire the behaviors to protect our planet and to ensure that all living beings can live in security and peace and therefore to go towards economies of sustainable development. We want to educate students to be future eco-citizens with humanistic values. In the development of this project we were far from imagining that our lives would change so much. The Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine with its economic, social and human consequences… have come to remind us painfully of the urgent need to unite in order for things to change. Our project seemed even more vital and important to us. In the first year no mobility could take place. However, despite the difficulties, we were able to implement them in the second year even though not all partners were able to participate physically in all mobilities. The objectives of the project, which were to work on civic, social and civic skills, were realized because the students felt European and had fun and wanted to do together for a better world and discover each other, its culture, its difference. Multilingual competence has thus found its full meaning here. The goal was also to train child researchers asking questions, experimenting, looking for solutions… and disseminating their knowledge through posters, games, photos, videos… was also able to be done throughout the various projects in order to enrich the blogs, our eTwinning site. Artistic skills have been developed in particular to highlight knowledge, learning… All the programmed activities could therefore be carried out thanks to concrete exchanges between the students and regular and daily communication between the teachers in order to share their ideas, to give and simply take news especially due to the health and global situation which may have been stressful at times. These activities were therefore: * Train students to eat a healthy and environmentally friendly diet: sow/plant/garden care/develop taste and smell/cook vegetables and seasonal fruits/eat a balanced diet *Moving in soft mode: identify the different means of transport/ analyse why in a particular situation this means of transport is used and can be done differently to make it more ecological/ to raise awareness of the dangers of the road as a pedestrian, cyclist… *Train students in energy saving: identify energy saving and waste situations / identify different energy sources. *Have students learn behaviours to reduce waste: reduce by using less / know how to sort / recycle by making other objects / know how to recycle products *To train European citizens who realize that it is together that we can ensure that our planet is less polluted and that all living beings can live in peace. Students learned about the culture of partner countries. They learned how to collaborate. They made games, albums, videos to share their knowledge. They shared moments in video. They voted for their democratic logo. * Disseminate our activities through a classroom or school blog, through eTwinning, which has enabled us to value the work of our students, to see and be inspired by what has been done elsewhere, to motivate, to inspire and to progress. All the schools participating in this project will continue along the lines of what has been put in place because, in order for behaviour to change in the long term, we must not lower our guard, especially since every year a new generation returns to school, that every year the pupils acquire in maturity and can thus access to new knowledge, know-how and eco-citizen behaviors. We are all aware that eco-citizen action is carried out over the very long term and this project has strengthened our desire to do so. This project brought us together as a European. To do together, to discover the diversity of the world, to act daily for our common future has greatly motivated the students and has made them want to learn, to progress, to share.
