Objectives

Adapting means modifying your thinking, your behavior to bring it into line with a new situation. And this quality makes the difference both in the professional world and in human interactions. Indeed, the world of work is changing, forms of employment, professions and management methods are undergoing profound changes, which make the ability to adapt all the more necessary. This concerns both young people who will experience, on average, 10 to 15 employers in their life and many professional changes as soon as they enter working life, requiring strength to bounce back and adapt to these different transitions. But also youth workers who are necessarily lifelong learners, youth work in itself being a constantly evolving field and having to continually adapt to the evolving needs of young people. On the strength of this premise, which brings together the various partners in this project, we wanted to draw on our diverse and complementary work experiences in connection with art, young people and European mobility to offer creative training to youth workers. In particular, we wanted to work around improvisation which makes it possible to tackle various key skills targeted in the Erasmus + program (e.g. self-confidence, adaptability, group work, inventiveness, taking initiative, sense of listening, ability to convey a message etc.). In addition, it is a tool accessible to any structure and person and which does not necessarily require special material conditions or specific linguistic or artistic skills. Working through improvisation in the youth field opens the approach of relational skills and socialization through an active teaching method, emphasizing action and group experimentation. This tool offers another way of approaching, with young people, communication and the relationship with others by getting participants to break down their habits. It also makes it possible to work around the notion of citizenship in the sense that young people will feel they belong to a group and be recognized by it, feel authorized to act for the group, feel responsible for others through notions such as respect and tolerance. Finally, it is a way for youth workers to set up improvisation workshops that can be transposed into everyday life because they refer to qualities transmitted such as sharing, pleasure, respect and solidarity, which are essential to live in society. Thus, “Juste une improvisation SVP” brought together in Poitiers, from October 27 to November 04, 2020, 29 participants from 8 European partners in order to strengthen their skills in supporting their young audiences via the improvisation tool. . More specifically, the training had the direct objectives of: - To discover in a benevolent and favorable framework, the concept of improvisation as a tool of accompaniment of a group and of development of competences allowing a better mental elasticity of the individuals, a greater adaptation and a taste for the discovery and the unknown; - Experiment with practical and fun tools and techniques that can be easily used in youth work but also be passed on to young people to cope with everyday life situations; - Increase the visibility of the Erasmus + program as a tool for developing projects on this theme and encouraging partnerships and exchanges of experience; - Indirectly, by training youth workers, it is their target groups that we want to reach with the aim of developing in them transversal skills through improvisation techniques.
