This youth exchange was an attempt to counter violence by creating several social tools, whose aim is - raising awareness about the gender-based violence, hate speech, cyberbullying, domestic violence and xenophobia, and making participants understanding how important it is to talk and to educate young people about these problems. Our youth exchange facilitated meeting of young people from different countries and environments, gave them a unique opportunity to get to know each other, discuss and compare different opinions, build an atmosphere of understanding and respect for other cultures, religions, and national differences, using various non-formal methods of education. The aim was to provide a neutral arena for participants to explore the root causes of extremist violence and advocacy of hatred and possible measures and actions to address them from a Young Peace builder’s perspective. The youth exchange "Extremes of Today", responded directly to the needs expressed by the partner organisations and gave them a new opportunity: To build new tools for participants in order to continue communicating the priorities and commitments of youth in countering violent extremism and hate speech in the long term perspective; To develop new skills and competencies for youth participation in order to better inspire young people's commitments to contribute effective and innovative actions to enhance counter-violence response and no hate speech campaign; To acquire new methodologies in order to enhance young people’s knowledge on countering violence agenda and the no hate speech campaign and their challenges; To acquire new non-formal learning tools in order to facilitate opportunities for young people to contribute to the global and regional voice of youth in the struggle against violence and hate speech. Project’s approach aimed to identify, explore and develop possible alternative models to improve the overall participation of young people in violence preventions, creating a new network of youth organisations working in CVE field, in order to capitalise each local experience and to increase the own capacity building countering violent extremism and combating hate speech. The project was a channel that facilitates the participation of young people in the process of creating counter violence and no hate speech agenda. This process includes, but is not limited to, intercultural dialogues, inputs to reports and publications, distribution of the no hate speech and CVE campaign materials, advocate for human rights. For this reason, we included such workshops as “You(th) against gender-based violence”, “Cyberbullying: ctrl+ alt + delete”, “Bad news – be aware of dangerous media”, etc.
