Objectives

Our project about cultural heritage and history took place in Damvillers, France, close to Verdun - famous for the battle of 1916 (the Battle of Verdun was fought from 21 February to 18 December 1916 on the Western Front. Our project wanted to encourage young people to explore Europe's rich and diverse cultural heritage, celebrate, understand and protect its unique value and reflect on the place that cultural heritage occupies in all our lives. The objectives of the project were to: - encourage young people to explore Europe's rich and diverse cultural heritage; - celebrate, understand and protect its unique value; - reflect on the place that cultural heritage occupies in all our lives. By highlighting cultural heritage participants emphasized: - how it builds stronger societies; - how it creates jobs and prosperity; - its importance for our relations with the rest of the world; - what can be done to protect it? To achieved project objectives we exchanged our thoughts and listened to experts on the following cultural heritage types, which can be distinguished in: - Built Environment (Buildings, Townscapes, Archaeological remains) - Natural Environment (Rural landscapes, Agricultural heritage) - Artifacts (Books & Documents, Objects, Pictures). All the participants of our project got to learn from the past of this historical area as well as from the prepared presentations, posters, discussions, debriefings, demonstration of arts from the participating countries, etc.
