Objectives

Together with the organizations involved in this projects, we have identified the need of the young people involved in the organisations, and came up with the idea of a youth exchange that are fulfilling some of these needs of the youngsters. Many young people today are ready to take part in the public debates and in decision making in their local communities, but there are not many changes for the youngsters to do so, unless they are for example politically active. Taking part in public debates and in creating a good atmosphere for expressing yourself in social matters in their cities and local communities is more than just taking part in political debates and being politically active. Luckily today there are many other ways to express your voice, however not all young people are aware or think about this as an option. Many young people nowadays feel like there is not enough space for them to express themselves in social matters on a local level. Especially young people from rural areas, where some of the organizations are located have less possibilities to take part in social life and voicing their message on social and cultural matters. Many young people are therefore disadvantaged because of their location, and they do not have the space, audience and even courage to promote the art they do and express their identity and culture. We would like to create the space where young people can express their opinion, attitudes and voices in social, cultural and political matters, in a different way. We would like to give the young people the opportunity to use their creativity and capacity to express themselves in an artistic and innovative way, through street art and graffiti. The young people in the project will work together across countries and cultures to together create graffiti murals and other street art that expresses “our voices through the spray cans”. Creative workshops, debates and active inter-cultural learning processes will encourage young people to become active citizens and to share their gained understanding and knowledge with others. In this way solidarity and tolerance among young people will be developed, inter-cultural experience will be shared, mutual understand will be fostered. Young people will later on disseminate what they have learned back to the organisations who sent them, for the benefit of the wider youth community from their locations. We would also like to as much as possible involve the local young people in the host-city, to include them in create the street art that will be visible in their city. The main aim of the youth exchange is to empower the youngsters to become active citizens in their local communities. We want to raise awareness about the importance of taking part in public debates and for young people to raise their voice, by for example taking part in creating the public spaces. We would like to raise awareness of street art and graffiti as a possibility for young people to do so. Objectives: On the basis of the needs of the young people and the aim of this youth exchange, we are working with different objectives to reach our overall aim. The following objectives for this youth exchange are: - To increase the young people’s knowledge about the history and philosophy of street art and its possibilities, by introducing them to the topic and showing examples. - To teach basic graffiti and street art techniques. - To create street art and graffiti in the public spaces in the city of the host-organization. - To increase the young people’s knowledge about active participation, active citizenship and intercultural dialogue. - To increase the young people’s abilities in taking part in public debates and creating the public spaces in their local community. - To give young people an opportunity to perform, formulate and express their voices and messages in an artistic and creative way that suits them. - To develop more initiatives in the field of Erasmus+ and art, cultural diversity and youth participation in the social life issues within the framework of the Erasmus + program. The aims and objectives of the project come in the high resonance of Erasmus+ objectives in youth field and key action 1 to boost skills and employability, modernize learning and education, focus on young people and to develop of the solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, primarily to reinforce social cohesion. We believe the project will contribute to improving the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, to promote participation in active citizenship, labor market, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity; developing more synergies and interactions between formal, non-formal and informal learning; putting stronger focus on European added values.
