Objectives

Through the "I want to break free" project, we wanted to educate young people and deliver proper messages regarding topics of radicalization, racism, and violation of human rights. We thought it would be appropriate and important to learn what it's like when someone violates your rights. We expected that after getting to know how to make escape rooms on socially important issues, youth and NGO workers would be able to attract more young people to these issues and influence local societies on a greater level. The project's main idea was to use escape/quest rooms as a tool to spread knowledge about human rights and raise awareness about this topic among young people. An escape room is a tool that is currently used for entertainment purposes mainly, but it could be used for learning goals too, as it is interesting, engaging, and interactive. It is much easier to deliver such important and sometimes complicated issues as human rights in game form. The objectives of the project were: • Raising awareness and spreading ideas about socially important issues and human rights protection among participants, partner organizations and guests of the training course • Teaching Youth workers and NGO workers how to organize escape rooms for educational purposes • Equipping participants with knowledge, skills, and attitudes on new approaches to education, especially HRE • Creating toolboxes on escape rooms (with schemes, scenarios, puzzle explanation, etc.) that could be used later • Making a positive impact in such areas as gender equality, minorities rights, and bullying (including cyber-bullying)
