Objectives

The most important thing that we wanted to achieve with this project is to attract attention of the youngsters on the importance of environment issues, as this topic has become relevant in different contexts today - they are embedded in different policy guidelines, in corporate governance and development concepts, in people's daily habits and basically everywhere else... While green lifestyle has become a fashionable trend in nowadays among various groups of the population, many aspects of the environment in today's society are rather unclear and people rarely have an idea of how much they affect the environment – transport, recycling, consumption and so on. There are many ways to mitigate those effects and conserve nature. People need to be aware of them and do something about it. The first step is to start with yourself, followed by passing the information to those around you. So with this project we also wanted the participants to get clear understanding about different aspects of environment issues, the role of social capital, importance of sustainable development and sustainable lifestyle. During the " Switch to Sustainability! " Youth Exchange we tried to address a wide range of environmental issues, such as waste management, transport, comparing different energy sources, reducing amounts of waste and promoting sustainable urban planning and development. The aim of the project was to raise youngster's awareness about importance of environmental issues and sustainable living. In order for all of us to be able to achieve the goal of our project, we've set the following objectives: - exchange of the best practices and creating new ideas on reducing the impact of human activities on environment; - exchange of information, knowledge and best practices on ways to protect the environment and to contribute to sustainability; - promotion of youngster's awareness about sustainable lifestyle and mindset; - promoting social capital through youth initiatives; - promotion of the Erasmus+ program. With this project we wanted to contribute to bridging the gap between different European countries by exchanging practical ideas and implementing them in other countries. Basically, we wanted the participants to protect the environment and follow the principles of sustainable living. And now that the project ended, we strongly believe that by travelling to La Reunion, we managed to induce this into the participants minds and behaviours, and made them much more aware about what all should we do in order to protect the beauties of our world, in such a way that we don't destroy it anymore.
