Objectives

Natural disasters follow one another (drought, fires, floods, etc.). It has therefore become urgent to protect the earth to face climate change. We therefore sought to bring together young Europeans to address a few questions related to ecology and sustainable development. What do young people know about this notion of ecology and “sustainable development”? How do they perceive this concept in their respective countries? How could the participants act together in various areas of daily life? What were the gestures to acquire to allow them to become eco-responsible citizens? How could we raise awareness around them?... The realization of this project was to provide some answers to these questions and allow us to ask ourselves what roles could these young people have to contribute to the protection of the planet, s question what they could leave to future generations. We wanted them to question themselves to see what can be done in different areas concerning ecology (housing, food, health, industry, environment, seas and oceans, etc.). We wanted them to try to change personal habits to consume better, change behaviors to fight against global warming. We hoped that they would acquire gestures and actions that would help them, despite their diversity, to become eco-responsible, involved and active European citizens, capable in turn of awakening a few consciences to contribute to protecting the planet in the future before let it not be too late. This project was linked to program priorities. Above all, he sought the involvement and active participation of young people. Through ecology and sustainable development, our objectives were to show young people with strong diversities that they will be brought to live together in a Europe that is still to be built. We wanted to show them that their differences in representations were a wealth to be shared for the future, that diversity allowed the construction of a European citizenship. "Eco-meetings 2020" had the following main objectives: - Educate young people on issues of sustainable development and climate change - Promote healthy lifestyles through the practice of cultural and sports activities - Allow young people to develop and acquire skills that will be useful to them in their journey as European citizens (know-how and life skills) - To make young people aware of the different cultures, religions, languages, histories ... they were confronted with, to know them in their ways of thinking and acting to promote an understanding of diversity. Allow them to live a first rich intercultural experience - Enable young people to express their sense of solidarity - Allow an exchange of practices and skills among the facilitators / guides of this exchange - Allow the international opening of all partner structures and their territories With this stay, we wanted to create a feeling of belonging to a community, to inculcate European values: social integration (in particular towards marginalized young people), understanding between different people, discovery of cultures. We also wanted to encourage young people to participate in the democratic life of Europe in accordance with the Lisbon Treaty, to help them find their autonomy, to involve them in the design of the program and in the acts of daily life during the stay, to promote their active citizenship. With this project, we wanted to improve and develop skills and abilities that young people, including the least privileged, can value and in turn pass on throughout their lives. We wanted to enable them to participate in democratic life and promote cultural dialogue. We wanted to help them acquire a 'political awareness' so that they could express themselves as a 'European citizen'.
