Objectives

"Des mots pour s'unir" (Words to strenghen) was a theatrical encounter between groups of young actors from four European towns: Krnov (Czech Republic), Minsk-Mazowiecki (Poland), Telsiai (Lithuania) and Saint-Egrève (France). The event was organised by the town of Saint-Egrève in partnership with the Troup'ment theatre company. It provided an opportunity for these groups to discuss dramaturgy around a common theme: the notion of language. Over and above the exchanges, which focused on the different approaches to theatrical techniques in each country, this meeting also gave the young people an opportunity to discover French culture thanks to a homestay with families, and to develop new friendships with young French people as well as young people from the different towns invited. The theatre objective enabled the participants to find out whether, beyond the languages that may seem so different, there is a language, a universal mode of expression that can be understood by everyone, "finding the words to unite". The proposals were all original and very interesting. In addition, these theatre exchanges were an opportunity for all the participants to develop their knowledge of Europe and the values that all Europeans can share. The discovery of these values, as well as the feelings of friendship and openness to new cultural practices, fostered a feeling of belonging to the European Union and developed a sense of European citizenship. The young people have truly had a gateway to Europe! This meeting was an opportunity for young people to develop their skills in different areas and to go beyond themselves. For the partner towns, the aim was to enable young people to take part in a mobility experience and also to implement such experiences in their own towns.
