With thousands of people still fleeing their countries every day, we are facing one of the worst humanitarian crisis in our recent history. Youth workers need to be equipped with related skills, in order to contribute to the empowerment of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to survive through this crisis and start rebuilding their lives in a peaceful society. Also, due to the high number of terrorist attacks in the EU in the previous years in which young people born in Europe were involved, along with the rising number of hate-crime, bullying and xenophobia incidents, we strongly believe that youth work has a crucial role in the young people’s lives. Youth work plays an important role in empowering youth to be more active in the community life, and staying away from extremist ideologies, that can lead to a radicalization. The project addresses the needs of both youth and refugees in order to gain skills and competences like leadership, team-work, critical thinking, along with intercultural competences and problem solving, that will help them fully be included in the European society. Moreover, the course will focus on methods of transferring the fundamental values of our society, mostly to prevent the radicalization and exclusion. The project provides the competences and skills that youth workers need for supporting young people that face problems such as marginalization, social exclusion, radicalization, bullying, xenophobia, by empowering them to cope with the challenges of the complex, modern society they live in. The main objective of the project is to help youth workers gain competences in order to support and empower refugees/asylum seekers/immigrants and youth to ensure inclusion and fostering tolerance between people, building a society based of peace and understanding. The aims of the project are: 1. Equip 27 youth workers (3 youth workers from 9 countries) during a 7 days training with skills that help them understand, address, solve and prevent the radical and violent behaviours of youth in their communities; 2. Empower the 27 youth workers that will participate in the training to develop intercultural understanding competence within youth, migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in order to promote a peaceful, inclusive and tolerant society; 3. Create an international network for youth workers, young people, refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and NGOs to share their stories and experiences and the use of non-formal education as a tool to raise awareness and prevent radicalisation from early ages; 4. Guide 27 youth workers taking part in the project to address and solve problems like exclusion, bullying and xenophobia, while helping them acquire a knowledge of the key humanitarian principles; 5. Offer participants a better understanding regarding Erasmus+ program and the use of non-formal education to promote European values like respect for human rights, tolerance, critical thinking and understanding.
