The goals of the project are to raise the level of excellence in the performance of all forms of teaching through the application of modern, innovative methodological and didactic approaches, with a special emphasis on the STEM field; increasing the motivation of students in the STEM field through the application of such approaches, but also in general for all teaching content, as well as the training and professional development of teachers in the STEM field through familiarization with examples of good practices in Eur. schools, exchange of experiences and development of networking. The teachers and the professional assistant should have first received professional training on mobilities, and then by applying advanced methodologies (problem-based approach, experiental learning, etc.) in teaching through regular classes, INA and the project "Striving for excellence" – ABC of Science'' and other STEM projects, to improve success in motivating and involving students in active learning of STEM fields, which will result in their greater success and acquisition of functional knowledge. Acquired knowledge will be disseminated in the school and outside it, to the interested (professional) public.
After an large self-evaluation of students, parents and employees was carried out in the school, areas for improvement were identified. The student responses showed that around 20% of them are unmotivated by the course contents and the teaching itself. The students' answers largely coincide with the results of a certain part of students who achieve worse educational success in STEM subjects. Therefore, in the Development Plan the priority area of improving the "Quality of the teaching process" is defined, with special emphasis on the STEM area.An additional survey was conducted among students(N=346) and parents(N=319) about the significance of the STEM subject group. 93% of students and 93% of parents agreed that the integration of several teaching subjects/fields and the application of modern teaching methods and strategies would significantly increase the interest of students and the level of their acquired knowledge and skills. Also, in the area of KZŽ there is no systematic and continuous professional training of teachers in the field of STEM, so the school sees an opportunity for this through Er. projects, familiarization with examples of good practices in European schools, exchange of experiences and development of networking.
