The very name of the project hides its goal, which is to empower teachers with practical ideas for the implementation of cross-curricular topics through project and teaching and extracurricular teaching that will be practiced by all teachers. We considered theoretical knowledge and formally designed curricula of cross-curricular topics to be insufficient, so job shadowing in partner schools and participation in courses provided us with a practical and immediate insight into the way students are taught in such a way that the student is an active participant in the teaching process, that through play, creative creation, critical thinking and collaborative/project learning draws conclusions independently and adopts new knowledge based on experience. Mobility participants of different profiles shared their examples of good practice during training and disseminated the acquired knowledge to their colleagues through various channels. Our wish was to create a stimulating school environment, to design the implementation of project days and weeks, to stimulate students' internal motivation for learning, to create confident and competent students, and through play and movement and new didactics to create quality prerequisites for learning.
A decade ago a big accent is put on the need to teach the topic of sustainability and health in schools. Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, after the adoption of a new curricular reform, also introduces curricula for seven cross-curricular topics that are taught through the cross-curricular correlation of several teaching subjects and which are considered crucial for teaching students 21 century. Despite the existence of the curriculum for each topic, the quality team noticed that some cross-curricular topics are covered more rarely than others, and the teachers agreed that they lack practical knowledge on how to realize the mentioned cross-curricular topics. This is why through this project they decided to get inspire to teach these topics by shadowing teachers in foreign schools. The specific goal of the project was to empower teachers to teach those cross-curricular topics that will encourage students to adopt healthy and ecological habits, namely Health, Sustainable Development and Learning how to learn. They were realized by implementing many activities, project days, extracurricular classes, implementing new methods in classes, etc. They disseminated the acquired knowledge to colleagues at all levels.
