Objectives

With the project, we wanted, considering the needs of education and the future profession of a media technician, to increase the professional competences of students through practical classes in the real sector in companies in order to better train them for life according to the requirements of the market economy, modern ICT in the sector of audiovisual and graphic technologies and the production of digital media content; as well as for life in a multicultural world and encouraged lifelong learning through the development and improvement of key competencies of students and teachers through mobility. We wanted to introduce a European dimension in the School through mutual connections and cooperation with institutions at the international level (a partner in the project, other schools involved in vocational education in EU, establish cooperation with the real production sector in the territory of Croatia and the EU, and improve the quality of the educational process in the field of audiovisual and graphic technologies and the production of digital media content; which would bring the School closer to the effort to become a benchmark of quality at the national level, thus positioning itself in relation to other EU countries.

Background

We applied for the project to reduce the gap between the skills and competences developed in education and those demanded by the rapidly changing labor market of the digital media sector. The analysis of the content of the existing curricula and the needs of the labor market showed that the emphasis in the education of media technicians should be placed on the acquisition of basic professional knowledge related to the real sector and basic practical skills within a particular profession, as well as on the acquisition of general competencies necessary for work and further education. The education program for the profession of media technician consists of a general education part and vocational content, and is carried out for a duration of 4 years. The entire teaching is carried out in schools, and students do not have the opportunity to experience work in the real sector that would introduce students to the real needs of the market, which is one of the main problems, as well as the lack of equipment with modern technologies necessary for the work of media technicians. The equipment they own is insufficient or outdated and does not sufficiently follow the situation on the market. All of the above leads to the fact that students do not have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest technologies and work techniques in the field of audiovisual and graphic technologies focused on digital media content.
