By implementing this project, we wanted the students to acquire work skills, develop new entrepreneurial skills of initiative, improve their knowledge of a foreign language and develop their communication skills. The goal of the project was also to improve students' self-employment opportunities, apply teamwork and adapt to a new work environment, solve more complex tasks in unforeseen and unknown circumstances, and adapt their behavior when solving different situations. We wanted to motivate and increase students' interest in understanding the value of education and integration with European education and perform jobs they are used to doing in a new environment where they will gain new experiences they can use in their work environment and on the labor market. Internship abroad will enable students to be more competitive on the labor market, have better references and gain more knowledge in their field of work, but also provide an ideal opportunity to apply learned teaching content, but also other skills and competencies. We also wanted to promote interculturality and increase European values among students. The teacher on the job-shadowing activity gained new knowledge that she uses in her work and shares with fellow teachers.
Encouraged by the successfully implemented KA1 New Horizons project and the first mobility of The World of Work project, and feedback from the students who participated in these mobilities, we decided to apply again for a project in which our students have the opportunity to do internship abroad. The school has been implementing European projects for many years and has gained a reputation as a school that promotes the European dimension and provides additional content to students, we raise the quality of education and skills and increase the interest of young people in VET, and encourage learning of foreign languages. Our motivation was for the students to acquire new knowledge and skills that they cannot achieve in Croatia, because the school is located in a small, rural area in Slavonia and the students do not have the opportunity to do internship in high-end hotels. We believe that the experience they gain on mobility can help them gain important work experience, self-confidence, develop communication, language and social skills, teamwork, and open up new opportunities for further education or employment. We also decided to include economy students who do not have intersnship, but can gain relevant experience this way.
