With this project we aimed to adjust students' competencies to the market needs thus enhancing their employability. The two-week-long practice in Germany was organized to: improve their skills in each respective profession, enhance linguistic and communication competencies with emphasis on the foreign language skills, develop further work-ethics and motivate students to act responsibly towards their environment by applying adequate work policies. We wanted to motivate younger generations of students to join similar projects in the future and to study hard so as to be able to pass the selection process. We expected teachers to gain new knowledge about the possibilities of improving practical classes of students in our town. At the school level we wanted to establish and develop further the collaboration with foreign companies and improve the school's capacities for the preparation and implementation of future projects.
Adapting students attending professional school programmes to the working environment, requires continuous adjustment of the learning outcomes to the market needs, developing students' communication and organisational skills and enhancing their work ethics and sense of entrepreneurship. That was determined in a research conducted by Krapina High and members of local businesses. The Erasmus+ project ''Better competences for the future'' aimed to enable students to do practical work with German employers known for the implementation of contemporary methods and technologies in their work and for offering plenty of opportunities for the improvement of the students' competencies. All of that is in accordance to the vision of Krapina High as socially responsible, contemporary school and to the goals established in the Strategy for the development of Krapina High. Krapina High aims to be recognized as the school always ''one step ahead'' when it comes to educating students for the future.
