Objectives

The project "Diversity is the bridge I want to cross" will encourage young people and children to acquire and improve the knowledge and skills needed for their better social inclusion. They will improve their communication and social skills; a separate workshop will be dedicated to this topic, but will also be discussed throughout the exchange. This refers to the acquisition of essential communication skills (active listening, appreciation of the interlocutor, paraphrasing and reflection, giving feedback, and non-verbal communication skills), the ability to express one's own views and opinions appropriately. They will encourage the development of interest in young people and children with fewer opportunities, in order to influence their life habits and encourage them to use resources in their community and participate in the social activities of their community. Participants will learn how to create their own individual action plan, which, in all future life challenges, will help them achieve what they want. By participating in the project, young people and children will represent their culture and get to know other cultures, develop their own creativity, make new acquaintances and friendships, and thus expand their social network and improve their confidence. The aim of the Youth Exchange project is to encourage and empower foster children and young people, mostly Roma, to actively participate in community life, to show them that diversity is not a problem and that everyone has the right to a decent life, with specific goals which are: 1. To show young people and children their origin and get them acquainted with it, why their ancestors had to migrate and learn about the migrations that are taking place today. 2. Stimulate interest in recognizing their values and specificity. 3. To empower young people and children to recognize their own potentials and become more actively involved in the life of the local community. 4. To introduce young people and children to cross-border cooperation, as cooperation with other nationalities has a strong impact on community development. 5. Encourage further education of young people who come from foster families who have prospects for further education, direct them on how to proceed and what to choose.
