Objectives

The Erasmus+ training course for youth-workers “Volunteering made easy” will be implemented from the 8th until the 14th of August 2020 by Outward Bound Croatia in the OBC educational center in Veliki Žitnik. The project will include 23 participants, active youth workers, out of which two will be experienced trainers from OBC who will facilitate the training course. The participants will be coming from Croatia, Spain, Lithuania, Portugal, Greece and France and they will be youth-workers who implement volunteering projects in their organizations, or who want to learn about volunteer management so their organizations can start implementing volunteering projects. We want to implement this project because we are aware that many organizations in Croatia and Europe are hesitant to include (international) volunteers in their work because they lack the skills and education on how to implement those activities so they are ultimately beneficial for the volunteers, the organizations and the communities. Since we are an organization with 15 of experience in volunteering work and more than 20 international volunteering projects which we successfully implemented, we want to share that knowledge with other organizations, help them grow their capacity, and ultimately create more high-quality volunteering projects and programs around Europe. The objectives of the project are the following: - To raise the capacity of the involved youth-workers to design, develop, plan and implement high-quality volunteering projects for their organizations and communities - To give the involved youth-workers an experience of non-formal education where they learn to reflect on their learning process, and how to facilitate this reflection in a group - To equip the youth-workers with tools and methods of efficient volunteer coordination, mentoring, support and facilitation of their learning process - For the involved youth-workers to develop an understanding of the different practice of volunteering in different European countries, including different legislative and share experiences with their peers - For youth-workers without experience in volunteer management to empower them and provide them with capacities to start developing and implementing high-quality (international) volunteering projects - To create and disseminate a handbook on volunteer management - To provide the youth-workers with tools and knowledge to reach out to youth facing obstacles and encourage them to take part in international volunteering projects - To build partnerships between the involved organizations and create a base for collaboration for future common projects, especially volunteering projects - To spread the impact of the project and the visibility about the importance of volunteering and educating volunteering coordinators in NGOs into the participants’ communities. - To contribute to creating more high quality and impactful volunteering project and programs across NGOs, public institutions and social enterprises around Europe which contribute to the development of a democratic civil society
