Objectives

The aim of this project is to empower 25 youngsters aged 18-23 from Croatia, Lithuania, Spain, Macedonia, and France, supported by their respective team-leaders, using drama- and improvisation theatre methods. Using these methods, the participants are going to learn more about themselves, their identity and their values, about their own culture and other cultures that are present in Europe, and about how to put themselves in other people’s shoes and adopt different perspectives. Most importantly, it will develop the participants’ self-awareness, self-confidence and provide them with different ways of communicating and expressing themselves. The goal of the project is also that the youngsters who take part in it afterward share their experience and gained ideas with peers in their communities by implementing their own small-scale follow-up projects at home. The project “Some new drama!” thus aims at raising the awareness among European youngsters and their communities about the different cultures they are surrounded by, about their own existing prejudice and stereotypes they hold onto, and about the difference of opportunities different people have based on their (cultural) background. The participants of this project will develop several of their key competencies by taking part, most importantly their cultural awareness and expression, active citizenship, social and intercultural competence and their competence of learning to learn. Half of the included participants will be youngsters with fewer opportunities themselves, which is why the project is inclusive itself and serves to empower particularly those youngsters, by developing their competences, raising their self-confidence and providing them with a valuable intercultural experience. The idea for this project is the result of a previous youth mobility project called “Include some drama” which was implemented in 2019 with the same partner organizations, and from which some of the participants actively contributed in developing this project, since the project it is inspired by served as a great motivation for its participants.
