Objectives

In the modern world, organisations need a leader and developed leadership culture according to the vision and needs of all members. A leader motivates and inspires people to engage and builds a team so that it is more efficient at achieving a common vision. When organisations can't achieve their vision, they remain without a fundamental function - they can't contribute to the development of the community and can't have a long-term impact on society. This is particularly important in the case of youth workers who work or volunteer in NGOs because they need strong motivation and continuous support to carry on with their work efficiently. During the implementation of Advanced Training on Leadership, thanks to the participants' feedback, we concluded that youth workers invest a lot in their work but are usually unsatisfied and exhausted because they don't know how to take care of themselves and are not properly educated in leadership, so they often do not achieve the desired impact with their youth work. This led us to establish a KA2 strategic partnership LEAD from Inside Out during which we developed a concept of Joyful Leadership (https://www.joyful-leader.com/) based on modern research and leadership theory and tailored to the needs of youth workers in NGOs. The participants of the training cycle (over 3000 people from all over the world who took part in the online course at Udemy platform) expressed the need for an additional training course so they can put the knowledge in practice and learn directly from the experts in the field. Youth workers' interest in leadership education and their engagement in helping us organise the training course exceeded our initial expectations so we decided to fulfil their wishes. Additional motivation for us was the extremely positive feedback from the participants who took part in the first Joyful Leadership TC in April and November 2019. It was an amazing learning experience they would recommend to every (aspiring) leader. Youth work is largely characterized by lack of financial funds and non-existence of formal educations for youth work and its recognition. This is why the motivation and proper guidance of youth workers is currently the biggest hope for quality youth work. These can be provided only by wise, effective, efficient, people-oriented, and positive leaders. This is the kind of leadership we promote with the Joyful Leadership concept. We have defined Joyful Leadership as the process of influencing others with joy about what and how needs to be done to accomplish shared goals for the benefit of all. We want to introduce the leader whose foremost motivation is to care about people they have an influence on – meaning that they feel privileged to lead. The project objectives are to: -increase youth workers’ capacity and professional skills in the field of leadership so they can become better leaders of their organisations -promote the concept of Joyful Leadership, the training cycle (manual, online course, training course), and its benefits for youth workers -increase the partners' capacity to implement leadership education projects as well as their recognition in the field The specific objectives, which are in accordance with the Erasmus+ programme and KA1 objectives, are to: -develop and deepen participants' competences in the field of leadership - by delivering highly specific workshops, simulations, personal and detailed debriefing, and individual mentoring by experienced trainers as well as and immersing them in the experience of good and bad leadership -improve the professionalisation and quality of youth work across Europe - by supporting the professional development of youth workers with a holistic leadership training cycle -increase the capacity of participating organisations to fulfil their mission - by educating their youth workers to become Joyful Leaders -increase the understanding and responsiveness to social, linguistic and cultural diversity - by working in a multicultural, multilingual environment with participants from different social backgrounds -promote European cooperation in the field of youth - by facilitating a place for sharing experience, networking, and developing new project ideas, strategies and cooperations -facilitate the attainment of learning outcomes in the framework of non-formal education - by using different non-formal educational methods such as simulations, discussions, role plays, brainstorming, games etc. -improve foreign language competences - by using the English language in different contexts: formal, informal, professional and personal. In this way, combining the Manual, quality youth workers as multipliers and an online course which will educate many generations of youth workers, the objectives of this project will surely be achieved and, in the long run, the project will contribute to the professionalization of youth work.
