InterCOOLtural Explorers was an exchange for young people with fewer opportunities that aimed to open borders, widen perspectives and explore possibilities. The objective of this youth exchange was to give the youth from Croatia, Belgium and UK a possibility to reach outside their everyday life and their communities (go out of their own “box”); getting to know other youth, cultures, states, way of life. To give them an opportunity to learn about others but also about themselves; see their strong sides, improve their skills and empower to be more resilient; expand their horizons, reduce prejudices, and change their views on their community, their life and their perspectives – both local and global. Besides the raising of intercultural awareness and solidarity through non-formal learning, this intercultural exchange aimed to be an opportunity for the youngsters to discover, explore and develop different competencies: 1.multilingual competence and lingual competence by using a foreign language both during the preparation of the exchange, and by traveling and using a foreign language during YE. 2. communication competence during active listening exercises and during daily feedbacks and reflection activities. 3. learning to learn competence through learning from other youngsters while being away from home in a non-formal context and taking responsibility of their own learning process, and development of intercultural competence resulting from discovering new and unknown European people, places and contexts. Discovering the strengths and struggles from peers in a different context resulting in greater tolerance and solidarity towards the other. 4. digital competences by using digital platforms in a safe and creative way, using digital technology to get in touch with each other, present themselves, make vlogs/blogs and create a short movie, and dissemination activities.
