Background

Industrijsko-obrtnička škola Šibenik has been implementing Erasmus+ projects since 2014. Projects include practical training in companies for students and job shadowing in vocational schools and companies for vocational teachers in the three sectors that the school provides training in: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and shipbuilding. Teachers take part in professional training to learn about new technologies, to acquire new teaching methods and to gain ideas for equipping school labs and workshops, as well as workshops in the Regional competence centre "ARS MECHANICA". Students gain basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills in school and doing internships in companies. The goal of their mobilites is to improve those skills, to learn about apprenticeship and internship in other European countries, and to learn about new technologies which they do not see during their practical training in Croatia. Students attending the four-year course of marine electricians have only theoretical training in the first two years and they encounter the world of work only for one day a week in the last two years. For them, the mobility is the first opportunity to implement their knowledge and gain practical skills.
