Objectives

In our application, we formulated 3 main goals: 1. Multifaceted use of ICT tools, 2. Gamification, 3. Methodological renewal. It was in these areas that we felt our experience was lacking the most. 1. Use of ICT tools - unfortunately, it is our experience that modern computer technology tools are quite a challenge for teachers who are unfortunately getting older. They are also in the majority in our institution. We wanted to pass on experience and ideas to them, motivate them, and also show directions to non-traveling colleagues. This goal was important, as all of our classrooms are equipped with ICT boards, and they can also have laptops at their classrooms. 2. Gamification - it is quite problematic these days to properly motivate students, process and deliver the curriculum. We wanted to gather ideas and experiences for this, since children like to play, and we want to introduce their interests into the lessons. 3. Methodological renewal - the world, the pedagogical tools and methodologies are changing. We would like to familiarize our colleagues with the foreign education system and methods, so that we can also update the knowledge and teaching methods we have acquired so far.

Background

Cooperation with foreign schools appeared for the first time in our school in the 2018/2019 academic year. We first looked for correspondence partners and programs in which we could get to know each other's culture on the E-twinning interface. We corresponded with students from several countries, working on different topics. In France, we found an institution with whom we studied in a live video connection during our English lessons. We also got contacts, mainly from Spain, who spent their job shadowing program within the Erasmus grant with us. It was a huge step forward and a learning experience for us, from which both parties only gained an advantage. In this regard, we saw the great opportunities in the Erasmus Plus for our school and teachers to get experiences, to renew their methodology, and to practice the use of a foreign language. Unfortunately, our first application was not a winner, but we did not give up either, so in our second application, we already managed to formulate specific goals that were presented to us as gaps or areas for improvement in our school. Finally, several schools connected to us expressed a positive opinion about this opportunity.
