Objectives

The aim of the project was to develop the digital skills of teachers, expand and renew their methodological repertoire, and pass on and apply ICT practices in the future. The primary goal was to transform from digital wanderers into digital settlers, that is to apply ICT tools and digital content in a knowledgeable and diverse manner. At the end of the project, a new SELFIE survey is to be conducted, and hopefully the responses from the leadership, teachers, and students would show significant development. Another important objective of the project was to support self-training and further education so that the digital methodological tools learned during study trips become best practices in the school. This involves integrating these tools into the teachers' pedagogical toolkit, improving the use of digital technology among the staff, and assisting colleagues by setting an example and sharing experiences. The goal was to create more digital educational materials and increase the proportion of those using the virtual learning environment. Through mobility, we also aimed to build international connections. Improving colleagues' intercultural competencies is necessary to strengthen and internationalize the school's dimensions.

Background

In December 2019, our school participated in the SELFIE survey compiled by the European Commission. The information collected through SELFIE provides a snapshot, similar to real "selfies," of where the school stands regarding strategies and practices related to the use of digital technologies for teaching and learning. Based on the initial SELFIE, the teaching staff was characterized as "digital nomads and wanderers," meaning computer and internet users primarily focused on consuming information rather than producing it, with their online communication being of a low level. The teaching staff and school leadership considered it important to set an example for our students regarding lifelong learning, continuously improve, and bring the curriculum closer to students in the age of smartphones and laptops. Additionally, there was a demand to expand the school's international connections and collaboration opportunities.
