The mobilities of this project served our long-term goals: making our school more modern and more international. Our mid-term goals included achieving a calm ambience in our school, lowering the daily stress level and organizing more recreational programmes. It was of great importantance for us to gain knowledge in the field of well-being, in order to help the community of our school in stressful situations and with conflicts. The lack of effective and stressfree communictaion in our institution caused severe problems, for which we attempted to find a solution with learning about new methods. The most urgen of our short-term goals was making school days more enjoyable and we also wanted to motivate our teachers and students. Our plan was to gain, learn, use and share knowledge to create new customs and eventually make tradition from good practice. The pandemic and the online school days strengthened our previously discovered weaknesses (communication, popularity of social events, stressful ambience, conflicts). A further goal of the 2020 project was to train a project team to avoid leaving all the work for one coordinator.
We applied for this project to provide our school with an opportunity for further development. Goals, such as becoming more international, training our students for the challenges of the 21st century have been declared in the European Development Plan of our school, which can only be reached with a well-functioning, motivated, innovative and cohesive school community. The key for this lies in the title of our project: kintsugi, where gold is used to make broken pieces of China valuable again. We are seeking the gold that holds our community together and connects the power of our traditions with changes that come with innovation. The year 2020 has brought a lot of changes to the world, opportunities for growth and redefinition. As a result of our school SWOT analysis, we have come to the conclusion that there is a need for development in the field of communication and well-being in our institution. We needed to learn about stress and conflict management, also we had to find a renewable source for motivation and inspiration for teacher and student as well, in order for them to stay motivated and will be ready for future action; building on our well-functioning traditions, getting closer to a modern and successful education.
