Objectives

We designed our project around career guidance as a tool of prevention to reduce and prevent dropout. It is still a challenge to meet the different abilities and learning styles of students in our school, and to be able to encourage those with low motivation. The activities of the project were designed to support establishing pedagogical work to help students’ career development. We encouraged our employees to view career guidance as a process, which consists of the complex development of competencies necessary for career planning. During the mobilities, we strove to obtain new theoretical and methodological knowledge and experiences, through which we aimed to improve cooperation, decision-making, creativity, self-awareness, communication, and the effectiveness of learning organization.

Background

The Egri Balassi Bálint Primary School is situated on a housing estate of our town, which has undergone several reorganizations. As a result, the composition of our students has changed significantly. Besides the students with special educational needs, the number of disadvantaged students with behavioural, learning and integration disabilities has increased significantly. It has become a priority to make students more motivated by making learning more experience-oriented, increasing their success, creating a positive school environment, and thus reducing the number of students at risk of dropping out. We aimed at developing effective learning, based on positive psychology and creative cooperation with our previous Erasmus+ projects. We wanted to continue the implementation of the experience-oriented school with our project titled “Which way to go? - Games and Experiences for Career Orientation", in which the development of our students' essential skills and competencies for choosing a career appeared as a new element.
