Objectives

The teaching staff in our school has a well-defined intrinsic need for methodological revival and development of digital skills, and this knowledge is exploited, apart from day-to-day classes, in nurturing talent. We wanted to learn and adapt those techniques which have been tried and tested abroad. We are determined to integrate the approaches and techniques acquired during the study trips in the diverse activities carried out in the field of teacher training. Our teachers, who are motivated to take part in lifelong learning, would like to get a better insight into international literature. In order to achieve this and also for the study trips offered by Erasmus+ adequate language skills are indispensable. To ensure that, the courses done have proven to be appropriate. Apart from progress in language skills and methodology we also aimed at gaining experience, learning about all the good practices and structure in operation in educational systems different from the Hungarian one, as well as the possibilities of adaptation complete with individual and institutional networking and refining communication in the spirit of assertiveness and tolerance.

Background

The project named “Window on Europe” is the programme created by the secondary school teaching staff working at Lajos Kossuth Primary and Secondary School of Debrecen University. The aim of the programme has been an integral part of those ideas inherent in the conservation of the high standards and diversity of secondary education. We have intended to gain experience and information which will yield answers to the challenges that arise in education. Due to our status as a model school, we have wanted to develop the practical skills necessary for reforming the current practice of teacher training. We would also like to set a good example of the practice and methodology of modern tuition to future teachers.
