Objectives

Innovative and high quality language teaching is of utmost importance and a high priority at our school, as in the different foreign languages the native environment may bring about other serious advancements. Our school has been in the top section of almost all national measurement scales rating between the 3rd- 30th place. (according to HVG it is ranked between 20th-30h place, or according to the central statistics of the National Education Office it is on the 3rd place regarding the number of students who qualified for the finals in the OKTV- which is the most famous high level academic competition for secondary school students in Hungary. However, we neither have a class specializing in languages nor a bilingual class. Therefore, our results in languages are somewhat further behind. This is the reason why we believe that language competences should be emphasised in our institution.

Background

It is the third time we have participated in the two-year mobility projects of the Erasmus programme. Having benefited from the earlier individual, and the subsequent institutional mobility experiences, our staff decided again on the participation uniformly and with great enthusiasm. Because of the Covid pandemic this 2020 project programme partly coincided with our first accredited project. Our school is a significant institute of talent development in the Southern Hungarian region, but so far we have gained experience related to the European good practices primarily through academic competitions (last year, for example, we participated in the Olympiads on astrophysics, chemistry, mathematics, and biology, as well as several international innovation competitions). Up to the present more than half of our colleagues have taken part in our institutional mobility projects. On the whole the Erasmus+ programme has a global and decisive institutional role: it is not the participation, but opting out would be questionable for us (requiring reasons).
