Our objectives were to raise the standard of our education, to change our students’ attitude: studying, working, handling difficulties. We are sure that the participants gained marketable knowledge, considerable independence, managed to develop their professional skills, language competences, and to ‘exist’ in an unknown environment. In our education we find it important strengthen competences that increase the chances of finding or getting a job. EUROPASS certificates prove that our students accomplished something ‘big’ and are able to work. These students are the evidence that the structure of our education is on the right track: we develop the competences essential for students to found professional knowledge, to acquire new skills, to recognize and handle new knowledge, to use creativity, to feel positive and motivated, to be critical and to acquire advanced communication skills. Some of the participants are from the less developed parts of Hungary; for them the journey itself meant something new, the internship abroad opened new horizons. The selection process was quite complex: we concentrated on the effective use of professional knowledge (special phraseology, creativity, academic progress, etc.), which was not in vain.
Through ERASMUS+, META – Don Bosco Technikum és Szakgimnázium (META) has been organizing internship for its students to foreign destinations since 2018. The demand for gaining this kind of professional experience is continuous: from the institution’s funding body, the school management, the teachers, from the students and - last but not least – from the labour market. This project is the obvious outgrowth of the previous, successful traineeships abroad, and has strengthened our international relationships. More and more students choose our school as they are aware of these possibilities, and during the ERASMUS project they can accomplish their compulsory internships. A considerable number of students feel motivated to study hard, as their learning achievements is an important factor in the selection process. They know that being part of an international project, working in an international environment is an extra value during their further studies, or in the labour market. What is more, the international environment makes them more open, tolerant and independent. ERASMUS+ projects give us inexpressible help to support our students’ emergence in the labour market.
