Objectives

During consultations with HR professionals from the host institutions, we obtained an idea that the three main aspects of hotel staff selection are the candidate's practical experience, foreign language skills and professional knowledge. Therefore, in addition to the certificate we wanted to focus on helping our students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills focusing mainly on the transfer of practical knowledge that is limited or non-existent in school education (eg sustainability in a hotel kitchen / restaurant, operating a modern industrial coffee machine, preparing seafood, etc.). The development of a professional foreign language knowledge is also a priority, for which the foreign language environment is the most suitable - not to mention the development of intercultural skills.

Background

Hospitality is an area whose operation has a number of harmful effects on the environment, and a reduction of these is a common task. However, this requires the training of a new generation of professionals who are willing and able to act - and not only in higher education but also in VET. Therefore, the main goal of the project was to introduce the VETstudents to the principles of sustainability and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) at members of a market-leading international luxury hotel chain in a framework of a foreign internship, to achieve a better appearing in the future at domestic and international labor market.
