Objectives

With the implementation of the project, we aimed to achieve results in the areas of quality improvement and internationalization. In this application (unlike previous ones), we participated in multiple courses to acquire more concrete knowledge, skills, and abilities. A key goal was to have craft instructors who can conduct classes in English. One of our long-term goals is to organize an International Weapon Dance Festival, and one of our colleagues gathered knowledge for this purpose. We also researched the similarities and differences between folk storytelling and storytelling. In terms of internationalization, our goal was to maintain and deepen existing good relationships (Danish and Norwegian partners) and establish several new international connections.

Background

One of the fundamental activities defined in the founding charter of the Hungarian Heritage House includes awakening and maintaining domestic and foreign interest in our folk traditions, promoting Hungarian and Carpathian Basin material and spiritual values, as well as establishing and nurturing international relations to promote and preserve the values of folk craftsmanship. In 2020, the HHH implemented its third ERASMUS+ KA1 project, and we wanted to continue the work started in both internationalization and quality improvement. Our institutional international relations are still not significant enough. We consider international relationship building important both at the institutional level and for our colleagues. This is a great opportunity for our staff to see the world, learn, and integrate the acquired knowledge into the institution's operations. The HHH is a very unique cultural institution, and there is no similar organization in Europe. The reason for this is that in some European countries, folk traditions are interpreted in different ways, with various emphases on this cultural domain in national cultural palettes. It is important for us to see the differences in terms of defining ourselves.
