The main goal of the project was to integrate European good practices into the further development of the educational and methodological culture of our institution as a result of international cooperation in the field of developing the basic competences of adults facing with the lack of skills necessary for lifelong learning and employment. Through the exchange of experiences, the professional activities of our school should further develop. We should learn new methods, and be able to build and maintain more effective international and local cooperation and partnership networks. In Estonia, which has been successful in digitization, we wanted to define proposals for the development of the institution's activities based on the results and experiences achieved in the development of the basic digital competences of adults. Another goal was to expand the foreign language skills of the participating colleagues and develop their personal competencies (communication, problem solving, critical thinking, etc.).
While in other European countries vocational training and programs related to the development of basic competences are constantly present and a great emphasis is placed on their development, in Hungary the problem has not yet been sufficiently recognized, and its social perception also varies. In today's digital world, the lack of basic digital competences increasingly worsens employees' labor market prospects, which is why we consider it very important to promote employees' digital preparedness. Recently, more and more employers are formulating their need for the development of digital (basic) competencies in connection with the filling of jobs requiring low education, and in order to meet this need, it is reasonable for our colleagues to become familiar with international good practices. As a result of the rapidly changing world, the fight against digital illiteracy is an increasingly important task for us. We wanted to expand our methods for the development of basic competences with methods for the development of digital competences. In this way, we can implement a more diverse development of basic competencies and train the adults who choose our institution even more professionally and efficiently.
