Objectives

As we have been researching the history and the local traditions of our town for decades, we used different methods to reach the information we needed. To broaden our methods in this direction, we wanted to participate in courses offered by foreign educational institutions that are dedicated to similar activities. When planning the project, we decided to gain knowledge, that is significant for us, from different countries. The history and the traditions of the chosen countries are quite different. This also means that the methods of the research and of the recording process are also different. Experts dealing with these fields are willingly share their experience. Our aim was to acquaint with the research methods of places with different history and geography, from which we would like to use some in our future work, in the way of involving those local activists who did not directly participate in the project.

Background

Due to political changes, little information has been preserved about the past of our settlement. Our association is dedicated to researching local history, the lives of notable local people lived earlier, the traditions of interesting artifacts, and preserving memories. To achieve all these aims, we have organised handicraft courses and created public art. We publish our achievements in publications, some of them are also available online, but our paper books have gained more popularity. In this activity, we would also like to involve local young people who will continue the relevant researches, will take a record of the results and will disseminate them. Through these processes, we would like to make the local population deepen its identity, and make the people who recently moved to our town in the agglomeration, join our community, not to feel as if their new residence was only a place for sleeping.
