Partners involved in the current project aimed to address a need encountered in their communities. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) the top 5 skills employers wanted the most in 2020 are: complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management and coordinating with others. From our previous experience in working with young people we have noticed, that although the capacitated institutions and young people are more and more aware of the need to require competences, when it comes to update it to the current societies’ realities there is a different practice. The accent in schools is still on acquiring knowledge and train memory, rather than develop practical skills useful both in professional and personal lives. Many young people after they graduate high school or university are confronted with the problem of adapting to the labour market and to the organizational culture of the company. This was the case of the youths from the 5 communities in which our partners activate: after finishing school young people are confronting with shyness, social anxiety and difficulties to find a job where to fit in. In addition, they faced many rejections at job interviews because of their timorousness, low level of self-confidence and problem-solving skills. This project addressed this specific need of youths to acquire necessary competences to higher their professional chances and to adapt to any social, cultural and work environment. Moreover, by contributing to this all our partners got closer to achieve their aim of helping young people develop and increase their capacities in organizing non-formal activities and events for youths. For reaching this goal of developing competencies we have chosen improvisation theatre because it brings into play the intersection of roles, relationships, status, personal experiences, economic and social/cultural forces that require reframe, rename and redefine problems in new ways. Improvisation theatre provides the opportunity for a person to develop themselves on many different levels. It sets up a safe and fun environment for a person to undergo experiential self-directed learning. Through the interactive exercises and activities, a person is able to experience learning on an intellectual, physical and emotional level. Improvisation is the wonderful vehicle for leadership development, whether it’s self-leadership or leadership of others, as it imparts crucial life skills that every person needs. The specific objectives that we achieved by the end of the project are: O1. Developed creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and team collaboration competences of 41 young people coming from HU, RO, BG, MK and CZ to higher their employment perspectives by using improvisation theatre. O2.Increased self-confidence and adaptation to all kind of environments of 41 young people from the above mentioned countries in order to prepare them for their professional and personal lives. O3. Increased the capacities of the partner organisations to plan, organise and implement a KA1 youth exchange focusing on creative means to develop competences among youths required by the new realities of the labour market. The project was interrelated to the Resolution on the European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027 by supporting youths to be architects of their own lives, build their resilience and equip them with life skills to adapt to a changing world, contributing to a better social inclusion by involving young people with fewer opportunities. Also, we promoted inclusion, diversity, equality, gender balance and non-discrimination in education by involving youths from disadvantaged environments and organising a transnational project. We involved and supported the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, engaging them in our project.
