Young people from five countries (Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary), who mainly live in multi-ethnic, culturally diverse regions, would have liked to implement the „1920-2020-2050” exchange program in order to learn about the complex natural, cultural and economic environment that surrounds migration and migrants. We were mainly studying in present, learning from each other, but also looking back at the great migration events of the last 100 years and planning for the future. Through non-formal and informal learning methods, we created and collaborated with each other to create an intercultural collection called “Migration ABC” that represents a range of values: environmental-friendly, special global and local values; It also draws greater attention to religious diversity and the problems surrounding migration. One of our most important goal was to help youth with disadvantaged background to participate in a program that strengthens groupwork ability, while they jointly plan, implement, assess and popularise their work. The main goal of our project was to learn together about migration, to realize its potential, to improve our initiative, to respect tolerance and to develop our media literacy and critical thinking. A program során mind a 8 fő kompetencia fejlesztését céloztuk meg. We aimed to improve five main competencies throughout the program. By developing the competence of cultural awareness and expression, young people were given the opportunity to express and interpret thoughts, experiences and emotions with empathy in creative ways. We did this through a variety of media: newspapers, websites, movies, games, arts, design, and music. As for interpersonal and citizenship related competencies, youth got the chance to familiarising themselves with an intercultural atmosphere. They could learn and accept different cultures, which also helps the long process of an individual becoming a member of the community. Through entrepreneurial competence, we wanted to improve young people's sense of initiative and responsibility and encourage them to innovate. By developing science competence, they are now able to act locally and think globally in practical ways to achieve individual and community goals. Learning to learn was also an important aspect of our program. With utilising the methods of projectwork and workshops plus peer learning, our aim was to help youth make good use of their newly gained skills in all walks of life, be it education, their workplace or an own business. We also developed foreign language competences, because we took care of learning more languages during many programs (learning about competences, song writing, etc.) The development of writing-reading skills and digital competences were also important in our program.
