The two youth exchanges funded by Erasmus+ in the summer of 2022 were based on a needs assessment which showed that there were priority topics for young people that they not only have opinions and views on but would be more active in solving or alleviating the social problem, although they lack appropriate tools for it. The project had the specific goal of providing comprehensive theoretical frameworks, transparent methods, knowledge and expertise about civil campaigns, making practical recommendations and handrails for them. The current project demonstrated the basic structure and tools of civil society campaigns on four such topics (LMBTQ or other discrimination / Social responsibility / Political loyalty vs corruption / Climate change). The project worked out these issues in two separate youth exchanges, while participants had the chance to demonstrate how good they are in campaign design and implementation. The project objectives were set up according to SMART goals (Specific / Measurable / Actionable and Achievable / Realistic and Result oriented / Timebound), and are closely linked to the objectives of Erasmus +. Considering both type of target systems, we distinguish short, medium and long-term goals. Tactical targets, short-term goals: (Tangible and measurable objectives matched with SMART goals): - Presenting, explaining and analysing the widest arsenal of possible campaign methods, tactics and strategics, both on theoretical and practical levels. - Providing precise overview of civil campaign definitions, features and campaign types, both on theoretical and practical levels. - Gaining knowledge on specific campaign tools such as proper problem defining, gap analysis, targeting and positioning, power and stakeholder analysis, messaging, proper media and PR work, budgeting etc. - Providing good examples presented by invited civil organisations. - Translating theoretical knowledge into practice: creating campaign design plans, / implementing a field work involving local community / finalising a handbook. Intermediate goals: - Supporting peer learning, creating a social context where teamwork and effective cooperation can be experienced - Offering the opportunity to build networks of international contacts, to actively participate in society and to develop a sense of European citizenship. - Developing the social capital among young people, their empowerment and ability to participate actively in the democratic life in Europe. Overall strategic objectives, long-term goals: - Supporting youth in the acquisition of learning outcomes to enhance their involvement as considerate and active citizens, and to have concrete methods of expressing their opinion in a relevant and effective way. - Equipping youngsters with competences, skills and methods in the need of transferring common fundamental values of our society, particularly to the hard to reach young people and to prevent violent radicalisation of young people. As the theme of the campaign is very broad and the project also embedded a longer practical fieldwork in the theoretical knowledge, it was necessary to organise two consecutive youth meetings, which were interlinked in several ways. The two actions were based on the same needs but focused on different phases of campaign design and involved different types of practical work. In this way, the project not only doubled the theoretical knowledge transfer and supported the theoretical themes with practical elements, but also strengthened cooperation between groups, team spirit, peer learning and knowledge transfer methods. Young people from 6 European countries (Hungary, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Italy and Bulgaria) took part in the project, with the active involvement of local communities.
