In connection with the implementation of the project, we set the goal that the students, in addition to their professional and foreign language development, should be as independent as possible in a foreign environment, and in the light of this, supporting their fulfilment, they should not be left alone while experiencing new situations. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, we were unable to take advantage of the Erasmus+ Mobility opportunities, so in the meantime, other goals were formulated by the project writing team. As a primary goal, we also wanted to embrace professional areas that could not participate in previous mobilities. There is an increasing demand for Erasmus+ Mobility in our school, which is now quite well established in certain fields of expertise: car mechanics, hairdressing and cosmetics, but we thought that not only these fields should be given more emphasis, but other fields as well (e.g. high- rise construction). Regarding the host institutions, it can be said that we did not have an easy situation, as in several cases they were unable to host the student groups delegated by our institution.
Our institution applied for the 2020 Erasmus+ Mobility for several reasons. Our goal was to develop the students' language skills abroad in a foreign environment. On the other hand, we consider it very important to develop the professional competence of the students, so that they can cope in foreign places and experience other methods, which are related to their profession and which they can use in the future. In connection with the application, students can access opportunities that, unfortunately, they may not be able to use due to their financial and social situation. In addition, we find it important that in the future they can use the knowledge they have acquired in their studies, and last but not least, throughout their lives. The second most important goal was to motivate our teachers and get as many colleagues as possible to take part in language courses in order to help them gain more confidence in speaking foreign languages. We find that our teachers’ knowledge of foreign languages fades and they lose their self-confidence if they do not have the opportunity to use their language skills in practice. Our long-term goal is to be able to participate in Erasmus+ applications as a host institution, for which the development of our colleagues; foreign language competence is extremely important.
